Friday is Dessert Day … and homework day

I went to the grocery store this morning and bought a few things I needed – managed to buy most of the groceries for my main list, so my Sunday morning grocery run will only include fresh produce! Win!

Anyway, I decided to make vegan pretzels drizzled in chocolate and sprinkles this morning. Original recipe can be found here, but I didn’t follow the original recipe. I didn’t want to use brown sugar and all that other crap, so I ended up using pretzels, semi-sweet chocolate chips (vegan! huzzah!), and little bitty sprinkles.

I don’t have a microwave, so melting the chocolate ended up being a fun exercise in utilizing a make-shift double boiler! Moms has decided to buy me one from Pampered Chef, but it is a long time ’til Christmas, so I rigged up a Pyrex bowl on top of a pot full of warm-boiling water (important: if the water gets too hot the chocolate will harden, so I had to keep a close eye on the consistency of the chocolate, and then I turned it down when needed).

So this happens, and I had already spread the pretzels out on a pan like so:

So the chocolate melts, and I pour it over the pretzels. I do this in stages so I can toss the pretzels and get a consistent coating. I did this a few times while tossing on sprinkles. So this wonderful exercise resulted in this:

So I let them rest for about an hour, and then I put them in Rubbermaid containers and stuck ‘em in the freezer. YUM. I am so excited – this is one of the best (and easiest) recipes I’ve encountered for vegan desserts.

So now that this exercise is over, I’m staring at my text book and greatly desiring to not work on my outline, but I need to so it will be finished. I need to work on my outline.

I need to work on my outline. I need to work on my outline. I need to work on my outline.

New goal: incorporate as many Ghostbusters references as possible since I’m working on “multiple stream theory” :)
